Notes:
Private Fredk. (or Frank) C. Anstey 33265 3rd. Battn. Royal Berkshire Regiment, was invalided home from France, and was on the hospital ship Gloucester Castle when it was torpedoed in mid-Channel on the night of March 31 1917.
Evesham Journal 28 April 1917, part of a news story about Dr. H.B. Emerson of Pershore: `Strange to say, another Pershore man -- Pte. Frank Anstie, of the Royal Berks. invalided home from France -- was also on the ship. Evidently he got into the water, for in the brief news sent to his wife he says --Luckily I was picked up quickly’ He is now in Netley Hospital. Before joining up Pte. Anstie was head gardener at Avon Bank, Pershore”
Died 19th October 1920; buried Exeter (Exwick or St. Thomas) Cemetery, Devon.
