Evesham Journal 28 April 1917, part of a news story about Dr. H.B. Emerson of Pershore: `Strange to say, another Pershore man -- Pte. Frank Anstie, of the Royal Berks. invalided home from France -- was also on the ship. Evidently he got into the water, for in the brief news sent to his wife he says --Luckily I was picked up quickly’ He is now in Netley Hospital. Before joining up Pte. Anstie was head gardener at Avon Bank, Pershore”
