There is a WW I steel helmet mounted on a wooden plaque, with the following inscription on a small brass plaque:
Great War — 1914 — 1919 — Presented by Trooper James Bull – 15th Hussars “O Lord thou hast covered my head in the day of battle” |
There is a military gravestone in the churchyard:

This is a calvary, with a bronze Christ on a wooden cross, cross by the side of the A4104, at the junction with the road to Earl’s Croome. Photogtraph taken June On the stone base:

Notes:
1. There is a C.A. Finch, holder of the Military Medal in
the 1914-18 war, who is listed on the Severn Stoke
War Memorials. A leaflet available in Severn Stoke church states that he was actually from Hill Croome.
- George Coventry listed in the 1939-45 section was the 10th Earl. See also his memorial plaque at Croome D’Abitot
- Lance Corpl. 38209 Leonard Taylor was in the 4th Battalion Worcester Regt.; served France and Flanders; kiled in action 9th October 1917.
- The roadside memorial was removed in the summer of 2000, leaving only the stone base; the site remained empty for some months, but around March/April 2001 the memorial was reerected with the original metalwork mounted on a new wooden cross, on a new red sandstone base (previously the base had been grey stone, possibly Portland stone). The photograph on this page was taken in June 2001.
Berrow’s Worcester Journal, in the 9 January 1915 issue, printed the following list of men serving in World War I at that time:

Several others have offered themselves from both parishes, but have been medically rejected. The four Masons are brothers, and a fifth away in the Reserves is medically unfit.
