St Peter’s Church

The church was severely damaged on 12th December 1940 (the night of the great air raid on Coventry) by a stray bomb jettisoned by a German bomber. there are a number of items commemorating this, which I won’t describe in detail, as they are somewhat outside the intended scope of this page: A brass plaque commemorating the restoration of the church in 1947, a framed photo of the damage, a framed poem by Elsie Vere Hewins ‘The Little Church Whatcote’, and a cross outside near the church porch, commemorating the 50th anniversary (1997) of the church’s rededication.

Besides these, there is a CWGC gravestone in the churchyard:

W.G. MARSHALL
ROYAL WARWICKSHIRE REGT.
