St. Peter’s, Cookley Ordnance Survey reference: SO 842802 War Memorial

The memorial consists of a white marble tablet set within a coloured marble surround. Carved into the surround in circles are 1914 top left, and 1919 top right. On the white tablet at the top there is a small cross embossed in gold gilt. The details are carved and then highlighted in blue

In addition, there are two individual memorials: listings donated by Bob Millward, recorded February 1 2001: A white marble plaque commemorates the death of William Hancocks in WW1. It is found on the north wall of the Sanctuary.
The carved inscription picked out in black reads:
In Loving Memory of
William Hancocks.
Lieut. In the Worcestershire Regiment,
only child of William and Edith Hancocks
of Blakeshall Wolverley.
Born January the 12th 1890.
Killed in action at Poelcappelle
Oct 9th 1917.

To the Glory of God
the Advowson of this Church was presented to the
See of Worcester by his father W. Hancocks as
a perpetual Memorial to the Parishioners of Cookley, of
a good son and brave soldier.


A brass plaque mounted on wood commemorates W A Curtis killed in the Falklands War and is found on the south wall of the nave.
The carved inscription reads: In Loving Memory
LIEUT. W.A. CURTIS R.N.
SEA HARRIER PILOT
FALKLANDS CAMPAIGN
DIED 6TH MAY 1982.
