Aston Magna War Memorial

Within the last few years, the church has been converted to a private residence. However, the churchyard and its graves still remain, and we have this CWGC headstone:

19190699 TROOPER
J.C. BIRKETT
ROYAL ARMOURED CORPS
19TH SEPTEMBER 1947 AGE 18
GIVEN US FOR A LITTLE WHILE
FOR EVER IN OUR MEMORIES
MUM AND MARY

In St Peter & St Paul’s, Blockley is a brass plate, which I think may have been moved from Aston Magna’s church. It reads:

In grateful remembrance
of the men of Aston Magna
who gave their lives
in the World Wars
1914-1918
C. Mitford D.S.O.
G.H. Deverell
H. Padbury
W. Rouse
G. Wheeler
1939-1945
T.A. Hall-Digweed
D. Pockett
Be thou faithful unto death

Note: C. Mitford also has a (far larger) memorial at Batsford, and he is also listed on the Great Wolford war memorial.
