St Catherine, The Leigh Ordnance Survey reference: SO 866258 War Memorial

A marble tablet in the church:

To the Glory of God
and in grateful memory of the men
connected with the parish who gave
their lives for Justice, King and Country
in the Great War 1914-1918
Gilbert Davis
Melville Draper
Alan Dyson
Frank Major Benjamin Nash
Thomas Vaughan
Reginald Yarnold
“Thine O Lord in the victory”

A grave in the churchyard:

1190419 WARRANT OFFICER
R.D. GARWARE
PILOT
ROYAL AIR FORCE
2ND DECEMBER 1943 AGE 25

There is also a row of characters on the stone in what, to my
linguistically challenged eye, appears to be an Indian script – probably his
name, in his native tongue.
